The Guidance and Finance for Mainstreaming Biodiversity webinar, co-organized by the Issue-Based Coalition on Environment and Climate Change (IBC) and the UN Environment Management Group (UN MEG), brought together over 30 participants to enhance UN Country Teams' (UNCTs) capacity in integrating biodiversity into Common Country Analyses (CCAs) and UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Frameworks (UNSDCFs).
The event included presentation of the Key Advocacy Messages for Biodiversity Mainstreaming and the Guidance Document for integrating biodiversity into UN planning frameworks, equipping UNCTs with concrete tools for policy implementation. Discussions also addressed biodiversity finance, covering the GEF Global Biodiversity Framework Fund, the Biodiversity Finance Initiative (BIOFIN), and the UNEP Finance Initiative’s role in mobilizing private sector investments.
The webinar reinforced the importance of aligning biodiversity commitments with national priorities and mobilizing resources for effective implementation.
