First in person retreat UN IBC-SFS

The IBC-SFS retreat marks a significant milestone, as it will be the first in-person gathering of the IBC-SFS since its establishment in 2020.

Participants: focal points identified for each IBC SFS member

Participating Members: UNECE; UNDP; IFAD; WMO; UNOPS; R-DCO.

This retreat aims at fostering collaboration and strategic review and planning among members, as well as exploring lessons learnt and approaches that can improve IBC-SFS efficiency and technical support to UNRCs/UNCTs. In particular, the specific objectives are to: 

1. Discuss IBC-SFS strategic positioning in the regional architecture: the role of the IBC SFS and the Food Systems Coordination Hub in supporting UNRCs/UNCTs 

2. Evaluation of IBC-SFS effectiveness and relevance: take stock of key achievements, challenges and lessons learnt 

3. Explore innovative approaches to enhance the effectiveness of the IBC-SFS’s work and ensure meaningful participation from all members 

4. Dedicate time to knowledge and information exchange on individual agency’s food systems work to identify entry points for co-work, and promoting integration to IBC-SFS results 

5. Identify potential entry points for the IBC-SFS workplan 2025. 

By convening in person, members will have the invaluable opportunity to engage in deeper discussions, strengthen cooperation, and align on future directions, setting the stage for continued progress and innovation within the IBC-SFS collaborative framework. 

The retreat will include interactive conversations, and be based on the principles of inclusiveness, and shared responsibility/teamwork.
