“Towards a Circular Economy of Food: Views and Perspectives for Europe and Central Asia”, is part of the Food Systems Talk initiative. It is organized by the United Nations Issue-based Coalition on Sustainable Food Systems (IBC-SFS) for Europe and Central Asia in collaboration with the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE).
We will explore the basic concept of circular economy and its applications towards a circular food system, aiming at reducing the use of natural resources and emissions to the environment, within planetary boundaries, by closing the loop of materials and substances, and avoiding waste. We will look at how to design food systems with a circular approach and what value chain actors need to do to be more efficient with the limited resources, and, at the same time, have an economically viable business and produce safe and high-quality food.
