The UNFSS played a leading role in addressing the challenges related to SDG achievement. The discourse around “food systems” was elevated through increased commitment from governments and other actors. National pathways were developed to strengthen food systems and build back better from COVID-19. Priority actions identified include sustainable production, efficient value chains, nutrition/food security, natural resource management (SDG 14, 15), biodiversity, social inclusion, environmental protection, food loss and waste, trade, and leaving no one behind (SDG 5). The side event highlighted the findings of a regional stocktake report on UNFSS to facilitate knowledge and experience exchange among countries.
